Google Search Console helps site owners understand how their website appears in Google Search. It reports search performance and certain technical or indexing issues; it does not guarantee rankings.
Step-by-step approach
- Add a Domain or URL-prefix property in Search Console.
- Verify ownership using the method Google provides for your property type.
- Submit the sitemap URL after checking that it contains the correct canonical URLs.
- Use URL Inspection to request indexing for important new or updated pages when appropriate.
- Review the Performance report for queries, pages, clicks and impressions.
- Check Page indexing reports and investigate issues affecting important pages.
Practical tip: A submitted URL is not guaranteed to
be indexed. Keep pages accessible, useful, internally linked and
technically sound.
